BIO: Joydeep Biswas, University of Texas at Austin

Joydeep Biswas is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin, and Associate Director of Texas Robotics. He leads the Autonomous Mobile Robotics Laboratory, where his research spans perception and planning for long-term autonomy, with the goal of robots that operate robustly in open-world settings while serving arbitrary user requests and preferences.  Prof. Biswas is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, the Amazon Research Award, and the J.P. Morgan Faculty Research Award. He serves as a trustee of the RoboCup Federation and an Executive Councilor for AAAI. He is the Director of the recently launched Center for Human and Robot Co-Adaptation, part of the NSF Science and Technology Centers program.
